Designing and building an exhibition chalet at a prestigious airshow

Client: General Dynamics
Event: Farnborough Airshow
Venue: Farnborough

The jewel in the crown of the British Aerospace events calendar, Farnborough Airshow celebrates the very best of UK companies in the sector. When General Dynamics approached us to design and build their exhibition chalet, obviously we were delighted, but equally completely aware of the importance for our client.

As ever we were excited to be given the opportunity and determined to rise to the challenge. Strict deadlines imposed by the security requirements at the showground ensured we were on a tight timescale whilst the client vision and brand guidelines were of highest importance.

The stand itself followed our favoured simple and clean design style, ensuring guests were immediately welcomed and put at ease. Specific zoned areas for informal networking, and also more structured presentation areas meant a defined place for everything, and that we were able to cope with the different phases of visitor traffic, from early morning, throughout the day. Our firm belief is if you need to label an area for relaxation then the design isn’t clear enough.

The content speaks for itself when working with such an innovative and impressive company – and we made sure texture, lighting and ambience delivered the best possible background for General Dynamics’ products and solutions.

Amanda Jackson Director of Marketing Communications said:

“Thank you very much to you and your team for delivering such a great presence for General Dynamics at this year's Farnborough Airshow.
The chalet was absolutely perfect – the design worked really well, and the space created was comfortable and perfectly reflected the General Dynamics brand. It was also one of the few chalets still standing by the end of the week! And with such extreme weather conditions, that was a credit to the build team.
The catering provision by Spiros was perfect, with many comments received from our guests on the outstanding buffet and hospitality offered.
Finally, the General Dynamics team all commented on the high level of service provided by you and your team throughout the week. Nothing was too much trouble, and you all went above and beyond what was expected. You were all very much part of the team, and it was a pleasure to work with you all.
Many thanks, and look forward to working with you again in the near future.”

We were happy to recommend some other Cardiff based companies in the project and our thanks are reiterated to Spiros caterers who provided breakfast lunch and tea throughout the week with a discreet flair that clearly impressed our clients and their visitors.

Pete Leckie, MD of Genero comments:

“I’m lucky that I have a team that I’m proud of every day; but Farnborough was a week that showed me yet again what a dedicated and professional crew we have here.  At an event where the sky is the limit I’m delighted that the team reached for the stars.”
