Celebrating the achievements of the RAC Ambassadors
Event: RAC Ambassadors Awards 2014
Venue: Caernarfon Suite, The Celtic Manor
Genero Productions were engaged by The RAC to provide event production and audio visual and staging services in the delivery of their prestigious RAC Ambassadors Awards 2014 which took place in the Caernarfon Suite at The Celtic Manor in front of an audience of over 300. Many meetings and site visits took place in the preproduction process with regular telephone updates which were then backed up with emails.
After discussions with the client and a review of the clients branding guidelines an in-depth creative process led to the design of a dynamic bespoke backdrop which incorporated the chevron insignia replicated from their masthead which, after sign off from the client, was then skilfully manufactured by the in-house Genero set build team.
The stage set had to accommodate various required elements for the live event such as a lectern for the compere (BBC Radio 2’s Traffic reporter Lynn Bowles), a matching lectern for the award presenters, a stage for the live band (hidden from view by a Kabuki curtain which dramatically dropped to reveal the band at a certain point in the evening), the Ambassadors branding and a new model RAC recovery van as well as a 24 x 10ft super-wide front projection screen. Additional room dressing was provided in the form of a star cloth which added to the wow factor.
A truss rig was installed to accommodate the twin projection system and the lighting set up. Further lighting effects were created with the use of moving lights, generic gobos and follow spots walked the winners to the stage during the awards for an extra touch of glamour. In addition to the stage set and AV, Genero also produced an animated video sting to play on the wide screen and the live relay filming of the whole event by a two man camera crew.
